Type: 6 Hours Per Week/$20 per hour (additional compensation available for outside events) We are open to this being an independent contract position or a fully employed position.The position is on-site with weekend and evening requirements

Second Unitarian Church (2U), a progressive, inclusive, and engaged congregation in Chicago, IL, is seeking a part time, non-exempt A/V Digital Tech Producer. Our Unitarian Universalist congregation is explicitly (if imperfectly) anti-racist/anti-oppressive, LGBTQ+ affirming, multigenerational, multicultural, and theologically diverse faith community.

Briefly, we are a 200+-member congregation of Unitarian Universalists that has been chartered in Chicago, IL since 1857. We have one full-time minister, a ministerial intern, and director of administration, a part-time director of faith development, a part-time music director, and childcare workers. Position Summary:
The A/V Digital Tech Producer will ensure Sunday services tech needs are fulfilled with excellence. The A/V Digital Tech Producer will set up microphones, ensure sound in the sanctuary is correct, run hybrid zoom aspects of the service, edit and post recorded service on YouTube, make available time for special events, and lead zoom-based tech rehearsals every Thursday at 5:15pm. The A/V Digital Tech Producer will work collaboratively with the Director of Music.
Qualifications:

Capacity to produce live virtual events, enabling participants of varying tech savviness to successfully do their parts.

Detail-oriented, thinking through transitions and timings, ensuring scripts are accurately written, and collaborating with others to make corrections.

Tech-savvy, always ahead with the latest updates, having installed and tested new features, and capable of explaining them to others.

Comfortable working with digital cameras, microphones, Zoom spotlighting, muting, unmuting, and slide sharing.

Highly focused, dedicating yourself to tasks and projects so others can trust that you are handling the tech.

Thrive under pressure, do not need constant monitoring, and are adept at troubleshooting and resolving technical glitches.

Proactive, diving in to solve unfamiliar problems using resources like Google.

Engaging and interactive during live and digital events, making everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

Working directly with volunteer members on Sunday morning.
Essential Functions:

Lead the production of all in-person and hybrid events, including all sound needs.

Serve as the main expert for tech platforms, primarily Zoom, and provide solutions as webinar technology evolves.

Format, edit, and post event recordings to YouTube.

Handle the technical setup of events and rehearsals, ensuring the process runs smoothly.

Run virtual tech rehearsal on Thursdays at 5:15pm.

Make recommendations and offer solutions to most effectively operate audio/visual components of 2U’s services.

Respond quickly to comments and questions via emails and texts.

Lead the production of additional 2U special events as agreed upon with supervisor.

Prevent technical failures during events.

Repair technical equipment until it is replaced.

Accessibility Note:
Please note that our building is currently not ADA compliant, but construction is underway to build an elevator and ramp, making us fully accessible, to be completed sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2025. Accessing the building, the basement, and our Loft area currently requires the ability to climb stairs.
