This Lakeview pub serves pulled pork sandwiches, raw bar items and pasta dishes (the chef worked at the now-shuttered Strega Nona on Southport), prepared with locally sourced meats and veggies. Offering 16 craft beers on tap and 30 bottled brews, the George Street Pub hopes to position itself as a neighborhood hangout where locals can pair their homemade turkey burger with a reasonably priced drink. However, before ordering, make sure you check out the decor as you enter: The owners rehabbed the space, which used to house The Union, to add a custom-built birchwood bar and also restored the nearly 100-year-old building's facade using green glass and brick from the 1920s and '30s.
