Food Service Sanitation Managers Certification
The Illinois Department of Public Health requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food to have a certified food service manager on the premises at all times food is being handled. As of July 1st, 2014 new employees must have their certification within 30 days.
In order to receive this Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) from the state of Illinois, the employee must take an approved 8 hour training course and pass an accredited exam. The Illinois requirement for this course was shortened from 15 hours to only 8 hours as of July 1st, 2014.
